No foreplay

I got my packet from Belize last night (well, actually from California) and in it contained the groups, the order of workshopping, a description of the workshops and all the stories.

My story is up first. Like we get there, we have some dinner, we chat it up, blah blah, we all go to bed. We wake up, we have breakfast, we workshop my story. There's no warm up, no getting to know one another, I guess I'm getting dinner first, but dang. This will be a test. I'm in a smaller group, though, only seven in mine instead of eight. Maybe I'll pretend to be happy about it. Like "hey, going first, kick ass, man, I love it!!" Actually I'm used to going first from Rob's classes. See, everything for a reason.

I'm pretty much scared to death. I think it's okay to say that now. I'm absolutely terrified. Of pretty much everything. I think I need some Asian noodles for lunch. That should quell my fears.

Asian noodles don't relieve your stress, POPCORN does. And when you're confused, its Chipotle (although that works in almost any situation) You're going to be fine Kel, seriously. I know you're nervous, and God knows you'll be even more nervous once you get there, but you're a fantastic writer. And you know as well as I do that you're doing this to better yourself, not get the final word on your career in writing. Go and have a good time. Get lots of sun, drink a shitload of cheap booze, discuss some stories, disagree, agree, tell at LEAST one person to fuck off if need be. And have a GREAT TIME!! You deserve it!

Wish I was stressed about going to Belize, rather than being stressed about life stuck in neutral. Think it's time to go eat some of my personal anti-stress food. Chocolate. The black kind. Bitter and sweet all at once.

You are going to be great, Kelly. Can't wait to hear all about your experience when you get back.
