I suppose it could just be me...

So on the news tonight Robyne Robinson announced that for the second time in a week a child playing in the street had been a victim of hit and run.

How about this--don't let your kids play in the street? Maybe? Because the last time I checked, I'm pretty sure that cars still had the right to drive on roads. Yards, playgrounds, parks, family rooms, driveways, etc. are for playing. When I was a kid we watched out for cars if we played in the street and when they came barreling down the road, we moved out of the way. That was, of course, when we managed to escape the watchful eyes of parents. Playing in the street and getting caught was liable to earn a spanking.

But that was a different time, I guess.
